“When I was in college, I worked in an office part-time. I’m a giant
Harry Potter fan and had a Potter-themed wallpaper as the background
of my computer. One of my co-workers, who I normally got along with
well, noticed my wallpaper and proceeded to lecture me on how I was
supporting witchcraft and the devil. I said, quite nicely, that the
series is pure fantasy and is rather positive for getting kids to
read. Before she walked away, she looked right into my eyes and said
‘Well, it’s your choice and you’ve obviously chosen to burn in hell.’
Needless to say, I didn’t speak much to her after that. For the
record, I was raised Catholic and do still follow the faith but in
total moderation.”
